NovaGenetix has been founded in 2011 by Dr. Roland P. Bühlmann, the founder and former single owner of BÜHLMANN Laboratories AG, to offer a liaison institution between academic institutions and industrial interests, not limited to diagnostic procedures.

NovaGenetix represents since some years a patent for Scleroderma treatment hold by the University of Zurich. This patent may create some interest to develop an ointment on the basis of miR-29, which would be a novelty.

NovaGenetix may also support university level research to search for and patent new potential diagnostic or pharmaceutical applications of several parameters like ACE-2 and sST2, and PCSK9. Senescent cells and sirtuins are further domains of research interest. However NovaGenetix is open for any innovative research.

NovaGenetix also works as representative head office for the following foundations:

• Swiss Orchid Foundation at the Herbarium Jany Renz of the University of Basel

NovaGenetix has been designated by Dr. Roland P. Bühlmann for the organization of a Symposium at the Biozentrum Basel in 2026 to honor the 50^th anniversary of BÜHLMANN Laboratories AG of which he was the founder and unique shareholder during 48 years.
